How long does an asphalt shingle roof actually last in Arizona?
Properly installed and ventilated, a quality architectural shingle roof in Arizona lasts 20 to 25 years on average — sometimes longer with the heavier Duration line. The variables are installation quality, ventilation, and underlayment. Cut any of those corners and you're looking at 12 to 15 years.
Why does Owens Corning Preferred Contractor status matter?
Two reasons. First, the certification requires meeting Owens Corning's installation standards on real jobs — it's not a fee-based credential. Second, it unlocks manufacturer-backed workmanship coverage that standard installers can't provide. For the homeowner, it means a real warranty path if something goes wrong.
Should I choose Oakridge or Duration?
Oakridge is the right choice when budget is the priority and the home will likely change hands within 10 years. Duration is the upgrade for primary residences where the homeowner plans to stay — heavier shingle, deeper dimensional shadow, longer wind warranty, and access to the Designer color range. The cost difference is meaningful but not extreme.
